Term 4 Reflection What have you enjoyed the most this term and why? Getting my stickers for Term 4 celebration because I am excited about it. I have enjoyed being a Year 5 because it has been fun. Doing Impact I have enjoyed feeding the worms and planting the trees in the native tree area. What has been challenging this term and why? My homework challenge because I have things on and it was quite hard. Learning the kids for kids songs because I have had things on. Getting 20/20 on my MDR because I don’t know some of the questions. What are you looking forward to next year? Being a Year 6 and going on the Year 6 bike ride and camp.  

Update on Homework Challenge For my homework challenge I am doing a pig I have finished painting it pink. So that means I am up to gluing things on like ears, feet, eyes and a tail. I am very excited to see what it ‘s going to look like. I have had some challenges already like choosing what is going to be best for my pig feet. We tried bottle lids but they didn't work so we were thinking of using little cylinders out of wood. But that didn't work either so we are using spray paint lids.

New Zealand Earthquake On Monday early Morning at 12:02 most of New Zealand was woken up by a 7.8 magnitude earthquake. The main hit town by the earthquake was Kaikoura. Kaikoura is in the South Island of New Zealand and is near Christchurch and Blenheim. 2 people died in Kaikoura and Mount Lyford because of the earthquake. There are still heaps of earthquake’s happening. This means people are homeless and scared about their loved ones and worried.

Labour Day Labour Day is a day where everybody can have a day off work or school. Labour day is a day to celebrate  the teachers and any workers. The reason for Labour Day being a Monday is so they can  for long trips and enjoy their free time. Labour day is always on Monday in October. For Labour Day My family just stayed at home and had fun we also did some gardening  we also went to my Mums Mum and Dad we watched the All Blacks play.

  Learning in the making conference The learning in the making conference is when we have a day off school ( but we go to school ) and have fun with workshops and activities The mad scientist returns I enjoyed this workshop but it wasn’t my favorite workshop but it was up there. I learned that making a balloon go down nylon wasn’t that easy it was really hard. Freya and I were a team our measurement was 7.61m the highest measurement was 10.87m. This workshop was fun. Dream Catchers I didn’t really enjoy this workshop because I didn’t finish mine and it kept coming loose. Which it was really hard to hold it especially since I have my arm in a cast. My life weaving This workshop was my favourite because I finished my weaving and they look so cool. So what you do for this is you have to weave fabric through cardboard get some fabric to put on your canvas. Then stick the fabric on your cardboard then decorate the rest of your canvas. Polystyrene Homework challenge How did you get your idea? So for my polystyrene homework challenge I decided to do a sailboat. I choose this because there is a lot of water on our farm because of the rain.  I like trying new things so I thought how about make a sail boat. Who helped you? My Mum and Dad helped me on my sailboat and helped me make it the best it can be. They let me use things like flags., that we use for rugby games and Dads spray paint. What was the process - how did you make it?  I cut it in half then I carved it into a boat shape. Got 2 metal sticks and stuck them into the two parts. Then I got a stick and glued the stick into the two parts. Then I spray painted it and let it dry. Impact Reflection For Impact I am in the Environment group. Our aim for impact is to plant some more native trees. In our native tree area  and to get our worm farm going and eating the staff room scraps. So we are just waiting for our worms for the Worm farm and to get a bin so we can put our scraps in there.  So we have ordered our worms and printed out our posters for the worm farm. Our next steps are to get a bin so we can put the scraps in and  to put the worms in the worm farm. I am enjoying the group that I am in because of the fun we are having. I am not enjoying some of it because some people are not completing their follow up and are not turning up to our meeting.

Term 3 reflection What have you enjoyed the most this term? Doing kapa haka and learning all the different things like  the rako and the songs because it is interesting. Doing cross country and running around the block it got my fitness up. Doing our Impact project and getting our worms to complete our worm farm I was very excited. What has been challenging this term? Doing Cross country training, sometimes I am not up for it . Some maths worksheets like finding area and perimeter was a little bit too hard. Getting some things marked off the first time like my timetable and blog post I only got it marked off the first time once. What are you looking forward to next term? Doing Kids for Kids Because  I would really like to be  in the Choir and I really enjoy singing the songs because they are really cool songs. In the holidays we did nothing much we just stayed at home and relaxed. My aunty and my cousin’s come over on Thursday the first week. We had lots of fun we mainly played cards. On Saturday we went to my Dad’s rugby he coaches North Blue bulls. They got into the semifinals against Mercury bay in Mercury bay. They were the better team on the field. But the ref wasn’t very good and they got into the semifinals last year but they tried and this year they lost. So it was very disappointing then we come back and went to Thames to get dinner.

Art Reflection For art this term we have been doing string art. I finished mine on the Wednesday of Week 4. Lots of people have finished theirs but lots of people still haven’t finished theirs yet. For string art I did a puppy paw. We searched designs up on pinterest it had lots of cool ideas. But I still choose to a puppy paw. I choose a puppy paw because I love playing with my two dogs and I think it really represents me. String art is a really hard process especially the string and the nails. We had to have a lot of resilience and and we had to keep trying until we got it. We had to concentrate a lot. So how you make it is. Step 1: Get a piece of wood that isn't too thick. Step 2:Next get a template picture of what you want and glue tack it on to the piece of wood. Step 3: Then draw crosses on the picture to show where to put the nails. Step 4: Then after you do that get a packet of nails and start to hammer in the nails. Step 5: Once you have hammered in ...

My sports report On the weekend I played Netball I played at Ngatea Netball courts. We played Magatangi and Waeraenga, we won both games. They were fair games they were also hard games.  They are our hardest competition in our grade.. In my team we have Lucy, Brooklyn, Charli-Summer, Dana, Storm, Emma, Brooke, Riana, Taliya and Marleana. I think I did well on my shooting because I am a shooter. But I also need to work on it so I need to get more in if I want to shoot all the time. Also I need to get in front of my partner more. That is a big thing because we stand there and wait for the ball to reach our hands and by time it hits our hands the opposition is in front of us and has the ball in their hands. So we to get in front of them more.     

Celebrating my learning This year I am in Whetu I like being in Whetu. But the deadlines need to be done much quicker. I think I like being in Whetu because it is challenging and I like to have some challenge. I have had an aha moment It is we use our computers a lot more than we did in Whenua. When we had our computer’s from my perspective like writing and doing things on my computer. But I also like writing on a piece of paper as well. I have finished everything that I have been told to do and I am very proud of myself. I am also proud of reading every night.

   My Holiday  On my holidays we did nothing much because Mum had to do work. So mum promised us we were allowed a friend over for the night.  I got Isabella over and we went to North to watch my Dad’s team play. Isabella, Maddie and I did the score board and at the end of the game we took all the flags and everything in. We got a chocolate bar at the end of the day for doing it. Then we went to Thames and went to get dinner (McDonald's). We went to watch a movie. The movie was called Allegiant it is the third movie of the divergent series. It is a really cool movie I rate it a 4 out of 5 star rating. Later that night we had a flag competition and whoever could make the best flag won. Isabella and me we didn't  get to make a fly cause we kept mucking up, then Isabella went home.

NZ flag debate Our two flag’s. For the New Zealand flag debate I went for the the new one, I wanted to change the flag because probably 60% of people that live in New Zealand would think that our flag is Australia’s flag. The flag that we have is too similar to Australia’s flag also, I liked the new flag. My opinion is why didn’t we change the flag at this debate? Anyway I think in a couple of years we will again have this same debate, and the top two that were in this debate they will probably be in the next one. If we have another one. So why didn’t we change it? I like the new flag because it has the silver fern on it and the silver fern represents us.  When I heard that the old flag was still our flag I was disappointed it doesn't really represent us.

    In New Zealand Easter Monday is the last day of the four day weekend which includes Good Friday. Easter Monday is a public holiday so shops and schools have the day off work. Every year the Easter bunny comes and visits our house and hides the Easter eggs. He or she always makes sure that there is enough for me and my sister to share each. We have the best hiding spaces at home and the Easter bunny is a really good hider as well. For Easter we start with a Easter egg hunt then we have some of our easter eggs. YUM! For some people Easter is about the Easter bunny and the coloured eggs and Easter egg hunts. But 90% of the people do understand Easter Sunday with the resurrection of Jesus but are confused of how it is related to hot cross buns and Easter eggs so it meant to do with Jesus there is no connection to it. So Jesus christ was killed on the cross on Good Friday. Then they put him in a tomb and three days later he rose from the dead on Easter Sunday ...

Phoebs Trip Phoebe was a lovely girl she had blue eyes blond hair with brown streaks down her hair and she had freckles on her face and she was tanned a little bit and she lived in the country in the Hauraki plains so there were lots of trees around. Phoebe loved exploring and adventures like finding new things like owls,ants gathering food and  last flamingos she loved them so much.  it was her life exploring but school wasn't her life. But she didn't mind going to school she had her friends and her teacher but that wasn’t all Phoebe loved her home because she could explore more and more things but one day something terrible happened her aunt Sally was taking her away because her mum was really sick her dad wasn’t sure if she was going to die so he called her to pick Phoebe up.
